The International School of Beauty Therapy has been established in Western Australia for 39 years and is registered by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) , RTO code, 6251. The school courses are approved by Centrelink for Austudy. The school is also accredited by the International examining boards CIDESCO (Zurich) and ITEC (UK). They are the 2 major International examining bodies associated with health and beauty therapies. The school is also a member of CIDESCO Schools Australia and ACPET (Australian Council for Private Education and Training).
Situated in the city of Fremantle, the school is close to both the Swan River and the Indian Ocean. The light and airy premises have been custom built for training Beauty Therapy. The school is just 5 minutes walk from the railway station, through the famous 'cappucino strip' and just a stones throw from the Fremantle Markets. The shops, boutiques and cafes are a popular lunchtime destination for the students.
The International School is equipped with modern teaching aids and equipment that the trainee therapist would expect to find in a salon or day spa, thus ensuring up to date training in Beauty Therapy.
The facilities include one large practical rooms, equipped for facial and body therapy and one for body therapy. And a theory/practical room with natural lighting ideal for nails and make up. In these rooms the students work on each other, family, friends and salon clients, performing a multitude of treatments. Treatments include facials, nails, gels, spray tanning, make-up, waxing, lash extensions, microdermabrasion, aromatherapy, body wraps, spa treatments, reflexology, body massage and many more. Theory classes are also part of the training as the background knowledge is vital to ensure the students are both knowledgeable and can work safely. Students are provided with training manuals as part of their course fee, but they also have access to many books to aid their studies. A student kitchen and coffee room are also available. Shower facilities are now also available.
All the teaching staff have obtained their Diploma of Beauty Therapy plus International qualifications, and have a minimum of three years practical experience of working in the beauty industry. Their experience ranges from working on a cruise ship as a beauty therapist to working in salons in the UK and Asuatralia. Both the principal and head tutor are also International examiners for the CIDESCO examining board. Together they bring a wealth of experience to the students.
